Meditation Rooms and Spas in Airports Around The World

meditation-spa-airportFinally, large airports have caught on to the fact that harried travelers appreciate a brief repose from the hyper-orderly, security-conscious environment of large airport terminals. Since these vast enclosed public spaces produce a steady bustle of passenger activity the typical modern air traveler has much to navigate through: Constant sounds of jets taking off or landing outside, nearby traffic of ground transportation, the churning of luggage carousels and warning alarms, beeping, honks, crying children and occasional arguments at the check in counters. It’s a small wonder why many people still prefer this popular mode of travel!

Regardless of how serene a traveler may be their state of mind will confronted by the above sensory overload of airports unless they benefit from the rare privilege of having their own private jet, or access to a corporate plane.

Knowing a quiet room for meditation and prayers is available in the midst of this anxiety ridden experience of preparing for travel by air, an air traveler can now start using the option to meditate or at least take a brief nap when waiting for a flight to his or her next destination.

Also some airports offer massage parlors, spas and beauty salons.

While we could go on in greater depth on what services airports have to thwart the stress of traveling (like bars and elegant dining) here is a short list of airports around the world that have meditation rooms (normally free) and spas, with more and more offering at least access to a patch of carpet for sleeping:

Singapore Changi Airport: Prayer Rooms, Massage, Swimming Pool, Jacuzzi, Snooze Chairs

San Francisco International Airport: Meditation Rooms

Kuala Lumpur Airport: Meditation Room, Massage Services, Lounge Chairs

Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport: Meditation Room,Massage, Sauna, Showers
